A man has been sentenced after an “aggressive” burglary at Watford town centre's Sainsbury’s.

James Anderson, 37, was arrested at the scene after Herts Police were called to the store in Albert Road South just before 9.20pm on Wednesday, May 1.

It was reported that a man had broken into the store and was acting aggressively towards members of staff.

Anderson, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary, failure to comply with a Community Protection Notice, and using threatening behaviour and was remanded into custody.

He appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Friday May 3, where he was ordered to pay a total of £271.75 in fines and compensation.

Inspector Dan Jones, said: “This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Watford. I hope this quick arrest and charge shows that we take these kinds of reports seriously and will act quickly upon them.”
