A serial shoplifter has been jailed after he stole more than £600 worth of goods from supermarkets in South Oxhey - including baby milk.

Leslie Glass-Holmes, 49, of no fixed address in Hertfordshire, was handed a four-month prison sentence in relation to 16 thefts, or one week for each offence.

Police said he stole a total of £684.10 in alcohol, wine, baby milk, and food between October 15, 2022, and March 16, 2024.

All the incidents took place at the Tesco Express petrol garage in Prestwick Road and the Co-op in The Parade, where he made off with over £60 in booze on six occasions.

Glass-Holmes appeared at Hatfield Remand Court on Friday, April 5, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.

Sergeant Andy Blackwood said: “This is a fantastic piece of work from the officers who have investigated all sixteen offences and secured charges.

“It proves that this kind of behaviour is not tolerated in Three Rivers and those who commit such crimes will be brought to justice.

“This type of crime may be seen as low level to some; however, it can be associated with other offences. When we stop shoplifters, it can have a wider impact on the local community.”
