A school in Bushey has appointed an acting headteacher after the previous one moved to Rickmansworth School.

Keith Douglas has been replaced by Hilary Morawska at Bushey Meads School, in Coldharbour Lane, who has been at the school for six years working as deputy headteacher.

Ms Morawska, who will be acting head until a new one is appointed, said: "This is a very exciting time for us all, and I am delighted and privileged to be able to lead such a wonderful school.

"Whilst we will miss Mr Douglas, he has left Bushey Meads in a strong position with an excellent leadership team and staffing body who will maintain the values and ethos, which make the school such a unique place.

"We anticipate that the next phase of the school will continue to develop great opportunities for our students.

"Bushey Meads is a very cohesive community. We fully appreciate and value the strong support of our parent body as we work together to move our school to even greater heights."

Two years ago the academy converted to multi-academy status, joining with Little Reddings Primary School to form the Bushey St James Trust.

The long-term vision of the trust is to expand further to include other schools and an executive principal will eventually be appointed.
