A group of friends from Watford has raised over £4,000 after recently flying to Florida to take part in the Walt Disney World Marathon for charity.

The 26.2 mile route took the team through each of the four parks in 27 degree heat.

The team was made up of Karla Whitney, Kate Sendall, Eleanor Caldwell, Elizabeth Holmes and Mathew James.

Organiser Karla Whitney said: "The marathon was a bit of a snap decision - I think everyone liked the idea of going on holiday in the usually miserable January.

"It was a fantastic experience and it was a great reminder of how great our community can be when it comes together for something so worthwhile."

The team raised the money for Peace Hospice Care, who Mrs Whitney said "do such great work and are such an integral part of our town".
