Hertsmere Leisure Trust achieves ISO 14001:2004 certification
A charitable trust has achieved the internationally recognised ISO 14001:2004, establishing it as one of the leaders in its field for its environmental policy.
Hertsmere Leisure, which manages sports, fitness and leisure facilities in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council and Three Rivers District Council was praised for its commitment to customer service and quality in delivery.
Among the trust’s centres are Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, William Penn Leisure Centre in Rickmansworth, Sir James Altham Pool in South Oxhey, Rickmansworth Golf Course and Bushey Country Club.
Ian Pluck, chief executive at Hertsmere Leisure, said, "We are particularly pleased to have achieved ISO 14001:2004 certification as it underlines our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.
"We have introduced a wide variety of measures to make sure our facilities are as environmentally friendly as possible, including getting staff involved in environmental changes and awareness, reducing waste to landfill, looking at our energy consumption and using environmentally friendly products where possible. It is an aim that is ongoing and important for us as a business."
Hertsmere Leisure was set up in 2002 and is a charitable trust which manages sports, fitness and leisure facilities, a theatre, golf courses, and community centres in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council, Three Rivers District Council and Milton Keynes Council.
