A group of Abbots Langley scouts were crowned cooking champions at the weekend.

The team of Lucy Packman, Roslyn Chase, Hannah Trotman and Joe Prior impressed Tewin Bury Farm Hotel chef Ivor Morgan with their culinary skills and received the title of Hertfordshire County Scouts cooking champions.

They had won the competition in their district to get through to the final against 11 other Scout Groups. The theme of the competition was Fairtrade and the teams were given a budget and had to decide on a menu, buy the ingredients, prepare, cook and eat the food.

The scouts were presented with their award by Tony Hankin, one of the lead volunteers for Hertfordshire Scouts.

Hannah, Joe, Lucy and Roslyn said that during their time in the scouts they had been learned more about cooking, and had enjoyed camping, hiking, competitions against other groups and taking part in lots of new activities.
