A quiz organised as a finale for this year’s Dragon’s Apprentice Challenge raised more than £4,600 for local charities at Watford Colosseum on Monday last week.

The Big Quiz, which was organised by Watford & Three Rivers Trust, and hosted by Mastermind Champion Fred Housego and former Watford FC Luther legend Luther Blissett.

The event was a great success, and sold out with over 470 people from local businesses, charities and students who have taken part in this year’s challenge.

The winning team "Druids" picked up the £100 prize money, but donated it back to the fund.

Bob Jones, chief executive officer of Watford & Three Rivers Trust said: "The Big Quiz really sums up the Dragon’s Apprentice Challenge, teams of young people organising a fun event that captures the attention and support of the business community for the benefit of local charities.

"Even though my team didn’t win, I personally had a great time. Well done to everyone involved with Dragon’s Apprentice and thank you to all that supported the event."

W3RT (previously Watford CVS) runs the annual Dragon’s Apprentice Challenge in Watford and Three Rivers.

"Apprentices" are teams of Year 12 students from local schools, who are assigned a business mentor (a "Dragon") and paired with a local charity.

Apprentices are given £100 and challenged to become budding entrepreneurs by "turning £100 into £1,000+".

Dragons provide advice and support, and all profits are donated to paired charities.
