To mark the charity Signpost’s 40th anniversary, 26 local musicians have clubbed together to create a commemorative CD called "We are here for you".

Among the well-known local bands which have collaborated for the fundraiser are Traitor, Alaska Campus and Tom Craven.

The CD will be sold to raise much-needed funds for the Watford-based youth counselling agency and it will be launched at The Flag near Watford Junction during a gig featuring some of the bands who have contributed to the CD on Friday, March 21.

Signpost Manager William Allen said: "This is really exciting and uncharted territory for Signpost.

"It is like our own local Bandaid. We hope that above all it will reach out to young people and spread the word about what we do."

The gig, which starts from 7.30pm, will not have a door charge, but there will be a recommended donation of £3.

The CD has been put together by musician "Dan the impossible" who said:  "As the flag allows under 18s to music events up until 9pm, we really hope that the event will attract local young people.

A lot of people involved, including musicians, producers and designers, have wanted to do something for Signpost because they feel it is important that young people have help available when they need it, especially as some of them did not have an easy time themselves as teenagers."

The CD will cost £4 but will be available at the launch for £3.

People wanting the CD but unable to come to the gig should call signpost on 01923 239495 to arrange a purchase.

William added: "It is the ideal gift for someone interested in music, who wants to get a feel for local bands - so just about every teenager then."
