A weekend of sporting activities will be held in South Oxhey to raise money for Peace Hospice Care and Sport Relief.

The Centre, in Gosforth Lane and Sir James Altham pool, in Little Oxhey Lane, will be hosting the venues for the Open Weekend events.

Michael Nestorovic, manager of The Centre and Sir James Altham Pool, said: "We are so pleased to be helping these great charities and showcasing what we have to offer the community here in South Oxhey."

The Centre and Sir James Altham Pool are owned by Three Rivers District Council and managed by Hertsmere Leisure.

On Friday at 9am there will be a charity bake-off where the winner will receive a month’s free gym membership.

Children are invited to enter The Centre’s Sport Drawing Competition running throughout the weekend for a £1 donation in the arts and crafts studio. There are prizes for the winners whose drawings will be displayed at The Centre and on its website.

There will be free massage sessions at The Centre on Friday from 3pm to 5pm with a donation to the Hospice.

A Zumbathon will take place on Friday from 7pm to 8pm, with the £5 fee going directly to charity.

In The Centre’s fitness studio, customers will be running a mile, cycling a mile and rowing a mile for charity, donating £1 to join in the challenge on Friday and Saturday.

Other activities at The Centre over the weekend include a charity lucky dip, cake stall, face painting, hair braiding and arts and crafts.

To end the weekend’s charity events, a Swimathon to raise funds for Sport Relief will be held on Sunday from 8am to 10am.

There will also be Supersplash Disco taking place on Sunday from 11am to 1pm complete with inflatables. Entry is £2.50 with proceeds going to the Hospice.
