A petition calling for funding to build the Croxley Rail Link has been posted online.

The Croxley Rail Link would see the Metropolitan line extended up to Watford Junction station.

The Watford branch of the Met line would be connected with Network Rail's disused Croxley Green to Watford Junction branch line, via a new viaduct about 1km north of Croxley station.

London Underground would then be able to run trains to Watford High Street and Watford Junction, currently operated by Silverlink, providing an additional service to central Watford. New stations would be provided at Ascot Road and Watford West.

It has been discussed for several years, however funding to build the project has so far proved elusive.

The petition which was posted by James Ware, a member of the Watford Rail Users Group.

NOSTALGIA NOTE: There wasn't too long to wait. The Croxley Rail Link plan was approved by the Government four years later, in December 2011.
