Watford’s University Technical College (UTC), which will open its doors to students in September, will be based in Colonial Way, the town’s MP has announced.

The UTC will move into the Sanyo House premises and specialised courses, such as event management, hotels and tourism, and computer science, will be on offer.

Richard Harrington has been working with the Meller Educational Trust and the Department of Education to secure the Watford UTC, which will be sponsored by the University of Hertfordshire.

When I attended Watford Technical College in Hempstead Road during the early 60's the courses were all about Engineering and Printing. Event Management??? What an aspiration in comparison to the old days, would that have anything to do with breweries?

Quite. I wonder what West Herts thinks of this? Or are they actually delivering the courses, just not putting their name to it?
