A Watford girl is preparing to compete in the Irish Dancing World Championships.

Lauren Gaffney will be representing London and the Home Counties at the World Championships at the INEC auditorium, Killarney, Co. Kerry in Ireland.

The 11 year-old, who was born and raised in Watford, trains with the Tiersha Academy at Holyrood Club in Tolpits Lane at least three times a week and practices for more than 90 minutes a day.

Lauren’s teacher, Aisling Fitzpatrick said: "I couldn’t ask for a more dedicated, hard working individual. Lauren is very focused and always strives to achieve more."

She added: "I am very privileged to have such a supportive and driven school. All my pupils work hard, the dancers are like family - we have a very close bond."

Lauren has already won The All England Championships and Claddagh Feis in the run up to the World Championships.
