Two research groups are tracing their villages’ involvement in the First World War.

Teams from the "Back to the Front Project" based in Abbots Langley and Kings Langley are creating profiles of the servicemen and women who fought in the war.

So far, more than 1,000 servicemen and women have been traced from Abbots Langley, Bedmond, Hunton Bridge and Kings Langley.

The project is being run to commemorate the 100 anniversary of the World War One and the aim is to create a detailed Roll of Honour.

On August 2 and 3, an exhibition will be held at the Kings Langley Community Centre to commemorate the start of the war and poppies will be planted in both villages to support the National Centenary Poppy Project.

Julie Barton, team leader for the research project in Kings Langley said: "It is important to remember what local residents did for the future of our country.

"One thing that we do need is more help. We need research help, even if it is a few hours to help research any of the men, we would really appreciate it."

On Monday August 4, there will be a candlelight vigil at Kings Langley War Memorial.
