Politicians have backed the second reading of the controversial HS2 Hybrid Bill in Parliament.
The vote means the contentious bill is one step closer to becoming reality and the high-speed rail link could pass through Three Rivers.
Residents living in Maple Cross and West Hyde will particularly be affected.
The government’s bill for the £50 billion railway line, which will connect London with Birmingham, was voted through at its second reading, receiving 451 votes to 50.
The bill does not guarantee that HS2 will be built, but HS2 cannot be constructed without the bill becoming law.
The government proposes to start construction in 2017, with the line between London and Birmingham due to be operational by 2026.
