A Conservative Member of Parliament (MEP) visited Rickmansworth ahead of this month’s elections.

Vicky Ford, who represents the East of England, was in the High Street canvassing for voters on Tuesday afternoon.

Ms Ford said: "I’ve found there are a lot of people wanting to talk more about European issues and people seem much more focused on the details than they were five years ago.

"It’s been really good talking to people in Rickmansworth, but the main thing will be whether or not people come out to vote."

Iam voting UKIP from now on, have noticed of late all parties and media going all out to smear Nigel farage and ukip that's a good sign to me that there the only people worth voting for, ed milliband is worse than useless I wouldn't leave him in charge of a plastic bag, Nick clegg is a waffler who doesnt keep his word so what does that make him!? He will waffle on for ages without giving a direct and accurate answer, so just can't be trusted, David Cameron he will go to the opening of a fridge if there was a photo opportunity in it for him, he too went back on his word for a referendum, and he and Gideon presided over the child benefit fiasco where two parent earners could earn up to nearly £90,000 and still get child benefit but if your a main earner can only earn £50,000, total farce. We have no UKIP MP or MEP called John Agnew to the best of my knowledge.

There is a Stuart Agnew MEP for Eastern England.

He has held numerous public meetings over the time he has been an MEP. I have seen him several times in such meetings in Watford over the last 4 years and again most recently in Hemel about a few weeks ago.

Patrick O'Flynn MEP lead candidate has appeared twice in Watford at public meetings in the last 6 months.

Paul Nuttall UKIP MEP and UKIP Deputy Leader is appearing at a public meeting on Wednesday 14th May at the Town and Country Club.

I think you will find UKIP MEPs are around a lot compared to the others who appear at election time only and try to look relevant.

We do not control what the WO do or do not report.

The WO did however produce an article on our most recent public meeting with Patrick O'Flynn last month.

A quick look at her website shows, depending on the size of the catchment area you want to use (seeing as you mentioned Hemel yourself i'll use that as the yard stick) that she also has had quite a number of meetings etc in the 'local' area over the past four years including several in Watford itself.

What you said about the UKIP MEP stands for the Conservative one also ie she doesnt control what the WO reports either.

But yes it is election time, which is probably why the UKIP (and probably all other MEPs) is also coming out the woodwork

I have to say I do have a little sympathy for how UKIP are being treated in the press, its like they are the only party who have members etc who ever do anything wrong or stupid.

I'm pretty darn sure that they'll be racists, sexists, loonies, liars, criminals etc etc who are supporters, members, employees, cllr's and MP/MEP's of the other parties but their dirty secrets dont get anywhere near the same attention as UKIP people do.

Hardly fair and in the run up to elections when reporting is supposed to be balanced probably verging on the side of possibly illegal. There is a definite which hunt against this party. Dont think that that is necessarily a good reason to vote for them mind you

I can guarantee that UKIP will do well in the Euro Elections, not least that it is done by proportional representation, and Mr F will relish in the kudos of this.
That said, I really don't believe that whichever party a MEP belongs to makes a blind bit of difference to us. Getting out of, or at least achieving a major change to our relationship with, the EU is not going to happen over in Brussels. So success by any party in these elections is all rather irrelevent. I am actually half tempted to vote UKIP just so that they are shown as being as ineffectual as anyone esle
