Charity concert to be held to raise money for Croxley Green church hall

First published in News

A charity concert will be held to raise money to renovate a Croxley Green church hall.

Night Train will be performing at All Saints’ Church Hall, in The Green, on Saturday, June 14 at 7.30pm.

The band will be playing classic tunes ranging from the sixties to the present to raise money for improvements to the Church Hall.

Mark Turner, Night Train saxophone player, said: "The arrangement began with a chance meeting with parishioners in The Sportsman pub on the Green. We were looking for a place to play and have been adopted by the church.

"Gigs like this one are a chance to give something back for looking after us."

He added: "We'll be playing a variety of music from Route 66 to Smooth Operator.  Expect to hear Street Life and some classic sixties Blue Note Jazz too. Listen out for well-known TV tunes like the theme from Parkinson and the theme from Starsky and Hutch."

Tickets cost £5 and can be obtained by ringing 01923 720856 or 01923 720319.

Another local event re fundraising, Not on the CGPC website, which is paid for bt residents and not just the 16 cllrs and staff.

You would think that CGPC would only be too willing to assist by allowing local groups access to advertise on their website, wrong!!!

TRDC have an e submit form, not once have I ever read any encouragement from CGPC to local groups to use the website as a means of advertising

CGPC are so inept they actually display A3 posters of upcoming events in their office, yet continually fail to upload the same info onto the website

Croxley Wicketman says...

There are some right miserable people in Croxley
If you read what the papers say,
They don't like the Revels or Wassail
And at Croxfest they all stay away.

The car shows are noisy and dirty
The Fairs, well they mess up The Green,
And as for the Church at Bells at All Saints,
There's one or two not very keen.

On New Years Eve, oh yes the fireworks
Are a scandal in profligate waste
And as for the Mummers at Christmas,
Well that must be banned with all haste.

A bus for the old folks on Fridays
Costs too much for the public purse
The Dog Show's a wicked temptation,
Christmas light are nought but a curse

The tree that is outside the Library
Costs thousands of pounds so they say
The spirit of Christmas for all to enjoy
But the Truth, it won't get in the way.

They moan at the poor Parish Council
Indignation is their middle name
When anything goes wrong in Croxley
The Council is always to blame.

IS IT LEGAL, they all shout with one voice
IS IT LEGAL, they call with aplomb,
Who are these evil Parish Councillors
Don't they care where the money's coming from?

There must be a 'clique' or select few
Whose causes they wish to promote
I never agree how the money should be spent
But then I couldn't be bothered to vote!

The websites a total disaster
And doesn't promote what it should
No one but me is right in these facts,
I'd disband it, tout suite, if I could

I write to the Watford Observer,
I write till I've no more to lob
And what is my name, I hear you all cry
Don't cha know, it's CGPC ROB.

Now look, Bob Bidley of Croxley,
You don't seem to like living here
So sell up, move away from the village
We don't like your lack of good cheer.

Cos Croxleys a fine place, I tell you
There's lots going on all the time.
We don't care you don't like the Council
To many it's perfectly fine.

Lol xxx

You have already allegedly exposed yourself in a previous post as M Saxon ex cllr, didn't you as a cllr propose a rescinding motion to overturn the councils decision to award your brother the annual pay rise and increase it, youhad to withdraw it at the 11th hour.

Didn't you as chair allow the green to be used for commercial activities, keep the money and place it in your charity account, even though TRDC had informed CGPC taht it was ib breach of contract!!

As for your ditty, what a pity, part of the problen was when you were a cllr and voted for the website you failed to include local groups run by local residents having the ability to post forthcoming events on the events page of the website, which is what i have stated.

As for ensuring value for residents, when i proposed that alternative estimates should be obtained for events held by CGPC, never remember you supporting that.

Also direct funding of events fron businesses within CG, which is sponsorship, you actuaqlly came to the chamber and spoke against it.

Didn't you prepare an estimate of costs for the first revels, and couldn't add it up correctly, being some £900 awray.

When you were chair, three TRDCllrs stood on CGPC being unaccountable, the green, the £100.000 it cost because certain cllrs etc wouldn't accept the advice that the parish council offices qualified the criteria as a VILLAGE HALL.

Also you voted against supporting papers which support motions being posted in the library for ease of reference for residents, didn't you!

A dity, more like a poor comedy script!

Xmas tree at library, supported that, when I asked had CGPC taken any night time photos of it, which they could have on the £300 digitial camera that M Saxon proposed that CGPC buy, the answer was no.

So instead of having a photo of the Xmas tree ablaze in all its glory as a publicity still, which could hav e been posted on the website and in the PUMP it appears the admin failed!

CGPC had an underspend of some £29k last year, this might have resulted because in 20011/12 a ranger left in Sept, so some £13k of salary was unspent, in 2013/14 another £24k was included in the budget for salary, no ranger employed until Feb 2014 so in tatal £36k taken from residents for unpaid salary, in the 2014/15 budget, residents were again charged for two rangers, even though there was an outstanding £36k unspent. do CGPC charge residents for Ghost employees?

Even with a £12k grant from TRDC, CGPC increaed their precept by nearly 2%, without the grant an increase in real terms of 6%

W"hat about the current chair cllr mitchell stating he wanted to spend his allowance on 6x£75 INTU vouchers, for so called volunteers, when asked who they were, stated he wouldn't inform us and we could ask at the office after the vote, couldn't vote for that, would you!

It now appears one of the cllrs who voted for it, will recive one of the vouchers,

Which two vote against, saxon and who will not reveal themselves?

Here's another alleged saxon debacle as chair, he had two Sunday charity walks for dogs, believe he spent £110 on a glass trophy, did that twice, all the staff who attended had to have two days of in lieu, 13 days in total, the walk lasted 2 hours, spent the rest of the day in a pub, we as residents possibly paid for staff to go on the lash, saxon admitted but not minuted he got very drunk!

When I proposed that all staff who attend charity events do so without pay, he and his ilk voted against it

No wonder my proposal to have an archive of the last ten years of agendas/minutes and the PUMP posted on the website failed!

Hello Robert,
One of the Parish Plan questionnaire questions asked residents what they would like to see on the Parish Council website (with local event notification being one option). The responses will be analysed and actions suggested. It will be up to the Parish Councillors to respond to matters arising out of the overall questionnaire response.

Personally, I would like to see the website include all local community events that are notified to the PC (as is the case with the TRDC website).

Regards,
Barry Grant

saxon, are you listening!!!

Unless I am very much mistaken Mr Saxon has not been anything to to with the CGPC in this electoral term, neither has he been anything to do with either Revels or Croxfest for the past couple of years. Oh yes a big fat nothing other than whine like an illiterate madman. Get a life instead of trying to blame everything on your predecessors try actually doing something yourself. You might surprise yourself when something you actually get involved with goes well. And don't worry Bob if in trying you make the odd mistake we'll forgive you.
