Changes to electoral system to come into effect today

Watford Observer: Changes to electoral system to come into effect today Changes to electoral system to come into effect today

The way residents register to vote is changing from today.

The Individual Electoral Registration will require each member of a household to register to vote.

Under the old system, the 'head of household' could register everyone who lived at their address.

Most people will be transferred to the new register automatically as their details will be matched against records held by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

But new applicants to vote will need to register in order to ensure they form part of the IER Electoral Register.

They will have until December 2015 to register under the new system, so no current electors will be removed from the register before the 2015 Parliamentary election.

About time too there was an interesting letter in the current watford observer
About a similar matter...postal voting .

I agree with most in that letter and am also worried that the current. System is far too lax and prone to fraud.

But of course we. Live in a democracy where we have free will to volte and are not instructed how to vote by various father figure , heads of households
Or god forbidden certain who profess to speak holy truths.

No ,no that sort of thing could happen in this great country ...could it?

Of course look at the number of wards being investigated by police for shall we politely say electorial irregularities.
