Defence of Watford’s fluoridated water by an analyst, and renewed praise of fluoridation by Watford’s medical officer, were before Watford Town Council this week.
Water Committee Chairman Councillor R.S. Horner, hoped the analyst’s report would be widely publicised as proof that “Watford water is very safe to drink for young and old”. Several members chorused: “Hear, hear”.
That was on Monday night – but 24 hours later Watford was left high and dry on England’s fluoridated water front when Andover (Hants) Council decided to ban fluoride from its water at once, and get rid of the plant and any fluoride left over.
