Hundreds of people attended a garden party at the weekend as the Bushey Festival got underway.
Families flocked to Bushey Rose Garden on Sunday for the second event of its kind, which included music from Watford Brass Band, a magic show, a mini funfair, face painting, a tombola and various games.
Amongst all the festivities, five special Rosa ‘Ruby Anniversary’ rose bushes were planted in the garden by the Mayor of Hertsmere councillor Carey Keates, accompanied by his wife Shirley, to help mark the council’s 40th anniversary this year.
One of the most popular attractions for children - much to the delight of their parents - was a 'smoothie bike', a stationary exercise bike which powers a blender on its handle bars when someone pedals.
Mayor councillor Carey Keates said: "What a wonderful afternoon. The garden is such a treasure and it was great to see so many people from the local community getting involved and enjoying themselves.
"The 40th anniversary roses are beautiful and it was a privilege to help mark this special occasion for the council in this way."
