Organisers of the Abbots Langley Tough Ten are looking for volunteers for this year’s event.

Runners will be taking to the streets on Sunday, October 5, and the organising committee are looking for volunteers to marshal the race.

The route this year is set to see runners start at Manor House Gardens, Gallows Hill Lane, before they go out of the village via the High Street towards Bedmond.

They will then turn left onto Toms Lane and finally reach Gallows Hill, where they will head for the finish line.

This year's event will feature a 1.5k fun run, a 3k, 5k and 10k race.

John Blake, from the Abbots Langley Tough Ten Committee said: "Those volunteering should be reasonably fit and be confident enough to give clear and audible instructions to competitors and members of the public if required.

"Marshals are not permitted or required to direct traffic."

Volunteers are being asked to arrive at Abbots Langley Community Centre at 8.30am.

All the money raised during the event will be given to local causes, but cash raised by school and club teams will be split between organisers, who will then distribute the funds to local charities and the teams themselves.

Watford FC legend Graham Taylor is set to start the various races and will present the medals and awards after the race.

If anyone is interested in helping, they should email: j.blake70@ntlworld.com with their contact details.

Entries to the race can be made online through the designated website, www.tough10.co.uk or application forms can be downloaded or collected from Langley Travel.
