Berkhamsted missed the chance to go top of the Premier Division on Tuesday as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Colney Heath.

The deadlock was broken in the 20th minute. A quick free-kick from the visitors saw Carl Tasker save well but the rebound fell to Jay Welch and he found the net.

Berko were not at their best in the first period and struggled in the opening stages of the second. Ed Canham’s frustrations saw him sent off after receiving a second booking following a poor challenge.

The ten men did rally late on and Connor Calcutt had a shot well saved. However, Berko were unable to find the breakthrough and suffered a rare defeat.

There were better fortunes for Berkhamsted on Saturday as a goal from Frankie Jowle helped them complete a 1-0 victory against London Lions.

Tring Athletic remain in mid-table in the Premier Division after they were beaten 3-1 at Biggleswade United on Saturday.

A poor opening 30 minutes cost Athletic as they conceded three times.

United went ahead in the eighth minute as a cross into the penalty area was met by Sam Nair and his perfectly timed volley nestled in the net.

The lead was doubled soon after when an over-hit cross from Adam Randall sailed over the head of Liam Watson and dropped into the corner.

What was already a big task for Athletic was made harder as a defensive error allowed Nadir time to slot past Watson.

Taylor Collins pulled a goal back for Tring but they were unable to mount a comeback and suffered defeat.

On Tuesday evening, Tring’s match against Hillingdon Borough was postponed.
