Little Hay Golf Club’s ladies’ team remain on track to defend the Mary Forster Bowl and the side lead their group with one match left to play.

The national tournament is for teams of three ladies from public golf clubs across the UK. Little Hay's second side claimed the best score in their group and ended with 94 stableford points. That put them ahead of Easthamstead who scored 90.

The ladies team, which consists of Dorcas Kindinger, Pauline Manning and Clare Stammeijer have one more match remaining in their group.

Meanwhile, the Ladies’ side got off to a solid start in the Pearson Trophy – a competition the club is competing in for the first time.

The tournament sees teams of eight players from golf clubs in Hertfordshire, Kent, Middlesex and Surrey in action.

Little Hay's side defeated Herts Golf Club 7-0 in their opening fixture and then followed that up with a 5-2 victory against Potters Bar.

The team of Elaine Meagher, Manning, Linda Reeve, Stammeijer and Chris Marsden beat 23 teams to win the Mill Green Winter Series. They were the only ladies team in the event, which was played over three rounds.

The final round of the club’s winter league will be played on Saturday and current leaders Jim Wallace and Chris Miles will have to perform well to seal the title.

They sit top on 256 points but face stiff competition from Alan Freeman and Jim Morris and Dave Smith and Paul Williams, both pairs are on 253 points.
