Anthony Joshua has pulled out of his fight on April 19 due to injury but the Watford-born fighter has been named on the undercard of Carl Froch’s WBA and IBF World Super Middleweight title rematch with George Groves at Wembley Stadium.

Heavyweight Joshua was set to return to the ring in Manchester on the undercard of Scott Quigg’s WBA World Super Bantamweight title defence against Nehomar Cermeno.

However, a hand injury sustained in his win over Hector Avila in Glasgow last month has ruled him out.

London 2012 gold medal winner Joshua, who has five stoppages in five professional fights, will compete at the Wembley show, which will take place on May 31.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: “I will be looking to announce his opponent next week and we’re looking at stepping him up on the biggest stage British boxing has ever seen.

“Anthony picked up a hand injury in Glasgow and although it’s healing well, he will be short for April 19 in Manchester – it’s disappointing but I am sure he will be on fire at the national stadium.”
