Reed Rangers look to have struck a decisive blow in the title race. They have moved into top spot after claiming a 4-0 win over fellow championship contenders Tudor Arms.

Tudor had beaten Reed 3-2 in the first meeting back in November and another tight affair was expected.

However, Reed enjoyed a dream morning and recorded a comfortable win.

The breakthrough came after 17 minutes. Dominic David teed up Karl Penny for a simple finish and it was 2-0 soon after as David collected the ball in the area, turned his defender and coolly slotted into the net.

With Tudor shaken by the quick-fire double, Reed added a third. George Hobson cut in from the right wing and curled his shot into the corner. With the game effectively won, the second half saw Reed happy to hold on to what they had.

Tudor were reduced to ten men with 17 minutes remaining and Reed completed the scoring when Dean Hammill found the net from a free-kick.

Reed joined the Olympian League in 1976 and have never won the top-flight title. A victory against mid-table Oxhey Rangers on Sunday would put them on the brink of securing their maiden triumph.

Tudor can still clinch the championship. However, they would need to defeat Oxhey Rangers and Headstone Athletic and overturn Reed’s goal difference, which currently stands at plus 14.

After Hertfordshire Lions wrapped up the title last week, the focus was on the battle for runners-up spot between Meriden Ballers and Brookside.

In an end-to-end game, Daps Joshua put Meriden ahead after five minutes. However, Brookside took a 3-1 lead into the break thanks to Jordan Cocomazzi, Barrie Horn and James Blackwell.

But Meriden fought back in the second period. A penalty from Graham Melsome reduced the deficit and a late equaliser from Joshua, whose long-range effort took a bounce over the Brookside keeper, earned a share of the points.

The 3-3 draw was Meriden’s final game of the season and they hold a five-point lead over Brookside, who have to win their final two matches of the campaign to take second.

Cassiobury Revolution took on Hertfordshire Lions in a repeat of the Chairman’s Cup final.

That game ended in a 5-1 win for Lions but Revolution were much improved on Sunday and earned a 2-2 draw.

Darren O’Brien and Jack Wheeler netted for Revolution while Jamie Balmer and Dennis Fraser scored the Lions goals.

Colne Valley Reserves ended their season with a 2-1 win over Woodlands United. Andrew McKenzie-Bell and Lewis Cole were on target for Valley. James Brophy replied for Woodlands.

It’s been a disappointing campaign for second-bottom Watford Labour Club but they clinched a 5-2 win against Dynamo Croxley.

A double from Paul Collett and singles from Chris Mountain, Ian Smithard, and Mark Bedford were enough for Labour to seal the three points.

Scott Stevenson and James Graham grabbed the consolations for Dynamo.
