Watford season-ticket holders to get chance to move seats

Watford Observer: Movements into Watford's new Community Stand are to be handled separately. Picture: Holly Cant Movements into Watford's new Community Stand are to be handled separately. Picture: Holly Cant

Season-ticket holders at Vicarage Road will have the opportunity to move seats from Wednesday of next week - but movement into the new Watford Community Stand is to be dealt with separately.

The Hornets have promised to adhere to the East Stand 'move-back promise' but details about his this will be handled are to be released in due course.

A £10 administration charge is payable per each seat movement, whether it is on an individual or group basis, but those with an 'East Stand promise' should note this is only chargeable once. So there is the option to move now and then move again into the new stand "once other commitments have been honoured".

Around 10,500 season tickets have currently been sold, including approximately 600 new applicants, so there are in the region of 2,000 unrenewed season-ticket holder seats which will now be released for the 'seat movement window'.

Once the window has closed, new season-ticket holders for next season will be allocated seats on a 'best available' basis, with the ticket office taking into account any preference stated on purchase.

All 'seat movement window' contact should be made via the ticket office hotline on 01923 223023.

Would have made sense to do the east stand movements first so more available seats had been freed up in the other 3 stands.

At the moment you have c2000 seats to move to but after people move back to the east stand that would be c3500-4000.

What if you move now and then an even better seat is freed up when someone else moves?

I agree - looking at the live feed there has been no external progress since the end of the season. Haven't even started to knock down the remaining part of the old east stand. So there is still that to do, build the new half in it's place and complete the extension toward the Vic Road end as well as complete all the understand facilities. The new season is only 10 weeks away so can't see it being anywhere ready. I think it's about time we had a progress update.

Could possibly be because they are working underneath the stand to get changing rooms ready first. Can't knock remaining part of old stand down until these are complete I guess... Especially if things were to get delayed, no changing rooms no games?? Once they are complete sure everything will be torn down and new stand up in no time... Original plan was to have part of new stand open earlier in year, so guess they might be able to open up the middle part if they get a safety certificate for it...

From the angle the picture was taken, it makes the Rookery look like the Oak Road End, when in fact it can hold around 7000 fans!

However, would like to see some updated photos please Wobby?

And to Longcliffe, may your stay in the Prem be a short one, and we will wave you goodbye as we pass in opposite directions next season!

your perception from thousands of miles away is I think highly optimistic
and does, as stated not take into ac all the red tape certificates. So possibly you will owe me an apology come the 1st home game.

Victor Meldrew is a top guy by the way, with a wholly realistic view of
the vagaries of life.

Well, we'll see come the opening of the seasons wont we? Liked your comment re. VM though. I do think you might be happier in life if you swapped-out just a degree or two of your "realism" with a hint of optimism. Try it, you may like it.

These new bolt-together stands are essentially portable and can be put together really quickly, so I'm sure everything will be fine for August. With the increasing flexibility of this design, stands will soon start reappearing at different locations. I gather the old Eastern Terrace at Exeter Chiefs miserable-looking egg-chasing stadium is currently being installed at Eastleigh, ready for their first Conference season. I somehow doubt whether our beloved old Main Stand will be reappearing anywhere!
