One of the great goals helped give Watford one of their greatest days 15 years ago today with victory over Bolton Wanderers at Wembley Stadium

An improbable end-of-season run of form culminated in Watford facing Bolton Wanderers at Wembley Stadium in the first division play-off final.

A spectacular bicycle-kick from Nick Wright, the Hornets' first ever goal at Wembley, provided a half-time lead; Wright's former Carlisle United colleague Allan Smart provided a composed finish to round off a sharp counter-attack in the second half to ensure Graham Taylor's side a second successive promotion.

In securing his fifth with Watford, Taylor set a national record of promotions managing a single club.

A fantastic day at Wembley - great goals by Wright and Smart. Difficult to believe that 15 years have since passed..

Brilliant day.

At the far end of the ground Nick's goal - we could see the kick but I don't think we were expecting to see the net bulge. Sadly Nick's last ever goal.

When Allan scored I thought surely it can't end like the game the day before where Man City were 2-0 down to the Gills until 90.03 and won on penalties.

Back then mobile phones were still newish toys, with an an antenna and calls about 30p a min.

What a day that was, hard to believe it was 15 years ago. I was right in line with Smart as he smashed in the second goal and we all went mental!!

Great memories.

Great footage. Great memories. Both goals were stunning and the team were so together. Funny to hear the commentator say how dangerous Watford are at set pieces. THAT seems like a long time ago!
