Jim Bonser was elected chairman of Watford FC in succession to T. Rigby Taylor who had resigned the previous month complaining of feeling "...too old and tired, disappointed and disillusioned".
Fellow director Cecil White acknowledged that Lancashire-born Bonser had "...taken on a considerable task at a time when the club's fortunes are at a low ebb".
