The Watford Observer confirmed that Watford's board of directors had committed to the installation of floodlights at Vicarage Road.
When the development had first been suggested many supporters had written to the newspaper "expressing the view that it would be more advisable to spend money on team building than floodlights".
However, pay-as-you-play teams were agreed with the lighting company, such that the cost of installation would be repaid on the back of a series of floodlit friendly matches.
