Watford loan target Daniel Tozser completes permanent move from Genoa to Parma

Former Watford loanee Daniel Tozser has completed a permanent move to Parma on a two-year contract.

The Watford Observer reported yesterday that we understood the Hornets remained confident of a deal to bring the Hungarian international back to Vicarage Road. This followed reports in Italy that the 29-year-old was moving to the Serie A club and would then be loaned out to the Hornets for a second time.

No permanent transfer had been confirmed at that stage but Parma have now confirmed their new acquisition on their website.

Tozser missed just one game after moving to Watford in January, making 20 appearances having not played competitively since May 2013.

Disappointed as he was potentially a long term player for us. It is something he may yet regret doing. I guess next stop is Ambrossini?

I must say. Don't understand the mechanics of this. Is it a way of avoiding paying a substantial fee, why would Parma sign a play they did not want to be part of their first team squad for the new season? Anyway if he returns to Vicarage Road he will be an important part in securing automatic promotion this year

The only reason I can think of why Parma would buy him and then loan him to us is if they are thinking his value will increase. But at 29 seems odd to me they will loan him back. That said I hope they do.

I read somewhere, it may even have been the wobby, that this is some sort of tax offsetting deal by the clubs, all perfectly legal in Italy. He'll be back it was probably one of his conditions of him signing for Parma that he be loaned back to WFC, apparently according to twitter feeds where HE wants to be.

WO article incomplete. What it does not say is that Aleandro Rosi went the other way i.e Parma to Genoa. It was a swap deal not sure if money involved as well. As lockerbiehornet states, the Italian transfer is a bit different to ours (e.g dual ownership of players). So Tozser might be makeweight in other deals perhaps with Udinese, Parma etc.. If so, Daniel coming to Watford not out of the question.

I don't think the Pozzos would pay the £1.4 or so Tozser is said to be worth, let alone the £15k pw salary I read somewhere. Deal not dead..not yet.

I'm fairly sure the Pozzos would pay £15k per week - can't believe the likes of Almunia, Gomes, Reira were on any less.... Maybe not the £1.4m but I don't see why not, especially if Deeney is leaving

I am sure the Pozzos could pay £15k pw if they so wished. But they try to run their clubs within a sensible budget and to break even. With us still paying off the bonds from Ashcroft/ Simpson/ Fransen etc and still restructuring financially, paying large - and some would say excessive wages at Championship level would not fit that model.

And that's before taking compliance with financial fair play into consideration.

Having said that, I agree, Almunia, Gomes etc, I don't think they would have come to us if they were paid within the previous regimes' salary constraints - wasn't it £5kpw at one stage - when John Eustace took a pay cut?

Be interesting to see this year's accounts after breaking even in 2012/13 although that was partly down to the impact of the play offs.

New Parma signing Daniel Tozser has stated on his Instagram that he isn’t going to remain there despite signing for the Serie A side yesterday as he looks to have a second loan spell with the hornets.

The Hungarian midfielder seemed happy when at Watford, playing alongside former Genk teammate Daniel Pudil who is heading into his third season with the Hertfordshire side.

Parma signed Tozser yesterday from Serie A neighbours Genoa in a swap deal for Aleandro Rosi an Italy wing back and former Roma player.

If true great news, think Tozser adds something that the other midfielders we have, don't.

One option would be to have 2 holding midfielders - one (Daniel) who breaks up opposition play, the other a playmaker (like Pirlo). I think Abdi could do the latter with his vision and passing - long and short. Imagine Matej's pace or Dyers or Anyas for that matter on Almen's through passes. Think AC Milan with Pirlo and Gattuso!

The thing is Tozser has pretty good distribution too better than Eustace, Mahon or Hogg.

Don't rule out Ambrosini joining as well....his leadership skills and experience honed at AC Milan would add something to a team that last season did not have too many (Troy apart). Don't think would play every game - when would he have played 46 league matches in a season. But he could contribute 20-25 plus sub appearances. Mind you Cassetti played more than I think he or us expected or Galli before.

I am drooling at the prospects for 2014/15 - just need to keep feet on the ground and take each game as it comes.

His Instagram account said 'I will not play for Parma this season - to be continue' (or something very similar!). Hopefully this means he's one his way to the Vic.
