Three years after leaving Vicarage Road, Graham Taylor was confirmed as the new manager of the England national team, replacing Bobby Robson.
His appointment had been long heralded; Manchester City manager Howard Kendall had earlier been quoted as saying that: "The FA have a candidate, he will give a very good interview and will get the job."
