David Donald was born in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.
Having played alongside the legendary Steve Bloomer at Derby County earlier in his career, Donald was to spend the 1913/14 season at Vicarage Road as outside-left.
The season was an unsuccessful one, however, and Donald moved on to Queens Park Rangers after a year at Cassio Road.
