A football tribunal ordered Watford to pay £175,000 for Oldham Athletic midfielder Paul Atkinson.
The decision resulted from a late hike in the asking price by the Latics, who upped their valuation in the wake of the sale of Luther Blissett to AC Milan; Watford had offered £100,000.
Atkinson made only eight starts in two seasons at Vicarage Road before rejoining Oldham for a fraction of the fee.
