Watford reaped the immediate benefit of Spurs' recent recruitment of German striker Jurgen Klinsmann as a crowd of more than 14,000 turned out for a pre-season friendly at Vicarage Road.

Richard Johnson gave the Hornets the lead, Teddy Sheringham equalising for the visitors. Added entertainment was provided by a ferret making an unscheduled pitch invasion during the course of the game.

Great player. He didn't score but he scared the hell out of our defence with his off the ball running. The old memory must be playing up, I have no recollection of a ferret.
