Beppe Sannino: We think Troy Deeney will be staying at Watford all season

Beppe Sannino usually refuses to give an opinion on Troy Deeney’s future but the Watford head coach this afternoon stated the club thinks their captain will remain at Vicarage Road all season.

Deeney has been the subject of several bids from Premier League clubs this summer, including Burnley, Leicester City, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City. Everton and Norwich City have also expressed interest.

In the past Sannino has simply stated he is the head coach and you will have to ask the club when he has been asked about Deeney’s future.

But the Italian, who was seen talking to technical director Gian Luca Nani after the final whistle, was a little stronger with his views yesterday evening.

Initially Sannino stated: “I don’t know [what will happen with Deeney]. For me Troy Deeney is a Watford striker.”

But later he added: “I am a head coach and it is a problem for the club. We think Troy Deeney will stay with us all season.”

QPR and Leicester have had bids of between £7.5m and £8m rejected by Watford this summer and the club have been adamant they will not sell the striker unless their valuation has been met.

But Sannino’s comment yesterday is the strongest indication yet that the 26-year-old may well be remaining at Vicarage Road this season even if further bids are submitted.

Well thankfully no one has matched the clubs valuation so far, the goal today has just underlined his worth to the cause and must ( I was the owner ) added another £1m to the asking price, and I honestly think TD is relishing having MV back alongside him, it will pay dividends for all if he stays.

Can't understand why we would sell him. Has already picked up his partnership with Vydra. We have already had a 2mil plus bonus from Assombalonga. Can't see any one paying 12 mil for him in premiership at this stage. Another year of Deeney?vydra with lots of competition to keep them on their toes could be worth well over 100 mil if we go up. If the Pozzo's are serious about promotion and they are( just look at the squad they have assembled) they will hang onto him. From Troy's point of view, much more preferable to be a Watford legend than what happened to Vydra last season-bench warming. We are going up!

As long as Troy is happy to stay and if we offered him a new contract then what a died this could be in the next two to three years. Ighalo not being able to be on the bench just showed what we have.

Final point Troy Deeney has made a point applauding the fans at the end of every game and he always included the family stand when doing so before the rous/graham Taylor stand and then the rookery faithful - yesterday 5 or 6 players did this with him. This might be a small detail but I think it shows his influence as captain being positive. COYH!

Neil horn how can you dismiss these guys thoughts? You don't know
Who they are or what they know.
So on that basis, your thoughts are purely wishful thinking
Because if they do up the numbers to what the Pozzos think
Is the best they'll ever get for Troy, I reckon they'd sell.
Personally I hope it's an AC Milan type mistake
And they pay ten million and walk away with Doyley.

If Assambolonga is worth £5.5M, and Ulloa £8.5M, and McCormack £11M, the Pozzos are quite right in standing their ground for a minimum of £10M, and probably more!

However, I think that Troy has seen the recruitments of Vydra, Parades, Dyer and the rest and sees what the Pozzos are trying to achieve this season.

He is probably thinking that I will hold for another year, for this squad will be in the Prem next year?

What has he got to lose? One more glory year with the Mighty 'Orns, and if it is not to be, then move on next season?

The only thing that is definite is that there is nothing definite. There is a long long way to go. Let's take it one game at a time. Good performance but for me we still look vulnerable at times. Bolton with profligate finishing and excellence from Gomes should have been closer to us, even though we were clearly the better side.

Not sure of Gomes starting position at corners though. He leaves the goal empty. A Gestede will take advantage of that.

If an offer comes in for Troy that meets the clubs valuation then he will go and there is still a good while of the transfer window left. As fans we tend to forget the business side of the game. I know that promotion is worth much more than any offer for the player but and it's a big but nothing is certain . I hope he stays but I can see the club selling whilst his stock is high
At 26 Troy is in his prime and if he makes a success of a move then there is always the re sale value to be considered, As a fan I enjoy watching him play and hope I am wrong about this.
