Lewis Grabban admits Norwich City took advantage of Heurelho Gomes’ tendency to come off his line during the Canaries' 3-0 victory against Watford at Carrow Road.

The Golden Boys goalkeeper was chipped twice in Saturday’s loss. Bradley Johnson was first to loft the ball over the Brazilian before Grabban’s lob cleared the stopper via the aid of a deflection.

Norwich midfielder Alex Tettey rifled home a third goal from 20 yards to complete a comfortable win against the Hornets, who had Joel Ekstrand sent off after just two minutes.

Canaries boss Neil Adams said after Saturday’s victory that Gomes’ positioning hadn’t been studied before the game.

But Grabban told the Eastern Daily Press: “We’d done a little bit of work and Gomes likes to come out, so that was in my mind.

“He was off his line again, so I just tried to go for it. We hadn’t really worked on it in the week but it was something that was out there and something you can try to take advantage of. So we tried to do that.”

So who's telling porkies between Adams and Grabban, whose shot was deflected anyway.

This is getting blown out of proportion. That was a quality finish from Johnson, and a lucky one from Grabban.

Sorry Lewis, but I find that hard to believe especially as your manager said the opposite.
Johnson's goal was quality, Grabban's took a deflection.
Any criticism of Gomes seems harsh to me.
Down to 10 men, away from home and against an ex-prem side - we were always going to be up against it from the 3rd minute onwards.
What is more concerning is our poor discipline and non-logical substitutions by Sannino. I'm more worried about that than Gomes positioning.

I have to say that I was worried about Gomes starting positions at corners against Bolton. He started far too high from his goal for me. If the ball goes over his head at a corner then that is a goal. A Rudi Gestede at Blackburn will eat those up for breakfast.

He must have a self belief around keeping further from his goal. Dangerous in my book and he will need to address that big time. Clear suicide. Despite the first one which was exquisite from Johnson and the one from Grabban that yes took a deflection, I believe he could have tipped both over the bar had he been just a couple of yards from his line. Normally keepers work at running backwards side on to spring off the standing foot to tip it over the bar. He is a terrific height and has good athleticism to do that but Gomes is totally unorthodox in that.

There is a wakening call for him not to make the same mistakes again. I noticed Alec on 3 Counties was very political in his answer to that question from Jon Marks.

This is not a good start to your career as a journo Adam. I expect to read xxx "admits" yyy in The Sun or The Star. I don't expect it in comment in my local paper about my local club. People only "admit" things when challenged under pressure. Some casual remark isn't "admitting" something and I strongly doubt that he even said it to you. Shabby

The first one wan't a "chip" it was a belter and the second one was a deflection. What are you trying to imply here? Gomes is a fantastic signing and a lot less likely to go AWOL at half time than his predecessor

Gomes made some fantastics saves during the Norwich game that seem to have been missed, the score could have been very different if he had not, yes he does like to stroll forward and at one stage during a corner to us he was nearly up to the half way line which I admit did worry me as we were not holding onto the ball during the game I thought this was risky, a few chances whilst he was pushed up were taken and luckily they sailed over the top beam but this is his style of play and he is much better than Almunia imo so in Gomes I trust.
