The Watford Observer understands Oscar Garcia will bring two members of staff with him to Watford, whilst Paolo De Toffol is the only coach who Beppe Sannino brought to the club that still remains.
All of the coaches who arrived with Sannino last December – with the exception of goalkeeping coach De Toffol – left the club following the Italian’s resignation on Sunday evening.
Ruben Martinez will assist Garcia and he will be joined by another staff member who is yet to be hired.
Martinez is a goalkeeping coach by trade and held that position at Brighton & Hove Albion during Garcia's year in charge. But he was an assistant coach at Garcia’s last club Maccabi Tel Aviv and we understand he will take up a similar post at Watford.
Alec Chamberlain and De Toffol already coach the club’s goalkeepers so Martinez - or one of the other two goalkeeping coaches - is expected to take up a more wide-ranging role.
One coach who has previously worked under Garcia but we understand will not be following the former Barcelona midfielder to Vicarage Road is fitness coach Juan Torrijo.
Former Hornets head coach Sannino brought assistants De Toffol, Francesco Troise, Giovanni Cusastis and Alfredo Sebastiani with him to Vicarage Road following his appointment last December. Sebastiani left the club in the summer and Troise and Cusastis have also now departed.
Thirty-seven-year-old Martinez is a former goalkeeper, who began his professional career at Barcelona but made just one appearance on the bench for the first team before moving to Deportivo Leon.
Following spells with Zamora, Novelda, Hercules and Badalona, Martinez retired in the summer of 2010 and worked as a scout for Hristo Stoichkov’s football academy in Barcelona.
It was at Barca that Martinez met Garcia - the pair working together coaching Barcelona’s youth team - before they left to join Maccabi Tel-Aviv in 2012 and won the Israeli Premier Division in their only season at the club before leaving for Brighton.
After finishing in the Championship play-offs, Garcia and Martinez resigned this summer and went back to Maccabi. However, they left the club once more last week and were hired by Watford on Monday.
