Watford striker Matej Vydra played the first-half for Czech Republic in their 1-0 defeat at home to the USA last night, while fellow Hornet Daniel Pudil was a 69th-minute substitute.

Alejandro Bedoya's strike in the 39th minute won it for the States, whilst the Czechs were very uninspiring.

Czech Republic will now face the Netherlands in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, left-back Josh Doherty’s Northern Ireland Under-19 side drew 2-2 at home to Iceland, after going two goals behind early on.

Jonathan Bond and Tommie Hoban could be the next Hornets players in international action, as the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers resume tomorrow.

Bond is part of the England Under-21 squad, who travel to Lithuania, while Hoban’s Republic of Ireland Under-21s are in Germany. The Young Lions, who are already guaranteed a place in the play-offs, finish their qualification campaign in Moldova on Tuesday.

Juan Carlos Paredes is part of the Ecuador squad to face Bolivia in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday.

Gabriel Tamas has been recalled to the Romanian international squad and they start their European qualification against Greece on Sunday, the same day as Ikechi Anya will be hoping to be involved for Scotland when they take on world champions Germany, while Daniel Tozser could come up against club-mate Craig Cathcart when Hungary meet Northern Ireland.

Lloyd Doyley is in the Jamaica squad for their friendly against Canada on Monday.
