IT was from Russia with love when a children's choir from Moscow raised the rafters during a performance in Waltham Forest.
The award-winning Vesnianka took part in the second East London Sangerstevne and Singers' Forum at St John's Church, Leytonstone, last weekend.
Sangerstevne is Norwegian and means a coming together or meeting of choirs and singers.
It was an all-day event at St John's and featured a number of choirs including the church's choir, sopranos Kate McClaren and Angela Silva and tenor Jezz James as well as the Russian choir.
There was also a workshop on West Gallery music, the choral and instrumental music used in churches from about 1720 to 1850, Chorale Cantando, the Festival Chorus and plenty of refreshments.
The event was deemed a great success and members of Vesnianka were praised for their performance.
They are currently on a tour of Europe which will see them take part in concerts in Italy, Germany and Croatia.
The Sangerstevne and Singers' Forum was organised by St John's Church choir and Philip Norman Music Services.
