Law firm Matthew Arnold & Baldwin LLP is warning home buyers of properties valued at more than £1m to beware a forthcoming rise in Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT). The FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) has compiled a ticklist for small firms to use when they are affected by external forces such as severe weather and heavy snowfall. The FSB also campaigned in early 2010 for a civil contingencies plan to be put in place to stop the country from grinding to a halt when circumstances are difficult, including mandatory salt level recommendations for local authorities, and further increases its own private salt levels to supplement shortfalls where necessary.
