A RESIDENT has been fined £50 at Bromley Magistrates' Court for illegally disposing of his household rubbish in a street litter bin.
The charges were brought against West Wickham resident Brian Dowd by Bromley Council which warns this sort of activity can attract pests and cause environmental health problems.
Cleansing manager Mike Thompson said: “This type of activity is illegal and we cannot tolerate it.
“Litter bins are simply not designed to cope with household rubbish and there are associated health problems too.
“We would ask residents to dispose of their waste using the normal weekly collection service.
“It is against the law for people to deposit trade waste or household rubbish in street litter bins.”
