Camelot becomes gold sponsor of May Day fun run

The National Lottery operator Camelot has signed up as gold sponsor of the Watford 10k on Bank Holiday Monday.

Watford Round Table is organising the 10k event in Cassiobury Park and Whippendell Woods on behalf of Watford Mencap, the leading learning disability charity, and other local charities.

The Round Table is a fundraising and social organisation for men under 45, and its Watford branch has supported Watford Mencap for the past 50 years.

Daniel Scott, Vice-Chair of Watford Round Table, said: “It‘s great to have Camelot, a local employer, helping to raise more money for Watford Mencap and other charities in the area. We hope that this year’s event sees record-breaking numbers – and record-breaking levels of sponsorship money.”

Anne Pattberg, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Camelot, will be running the race herself and is right behind Watford Mencap’s work.

She said: “We are delighted to be involved and I know that some of our staff – including me – will be entering the race to raise as much money as possible for these charities and the people they benefit.

Camelot has previously supported Watford Mencap’s Children’s Centre with a summer outing, and one of our staff volunteers at the after-school Club, so we know just how much these activities mean to local families.

“We’ll be there on the day as part of the presentation party, but in the meantime I’d better get my trainers on!”
