Watford Mencap has been at the forefront of policy and service provision for people with learning disabilities for over 50 years. With over 100 staff and a turnover of £2.5 million, we are one of the largest Mencap societies in the country.

We have the following permanent opportunities: TRAINEE FUNDRAISER – SALARY CIRCA £16,500 PER ANNUM + BENEFITS 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK. REF TFF We have created this trainee position in fundraising to allow a motivated person the opportunity to gain valuable experience and training in a major local charity. The work will include events organisation, dealing with donors, maintaining records, writing funding bids, ensuring our internet presence and writing publicity material.

You will have a keen interest in learning disability and the voluntary sector, be able to write persuasively and accurately and have good computer skills. Fundraising experience in a paid or voluntary capacity and experience of electronic media are essential. You should have an outgoing confident personality and be able to communicate effectively to be able to form relationships with a wide range of people.

LEISURE TOGETHER CO-ORDINATOR - SALARY £17,500 PER ANNUM + BENEFITS PRO RATA 16 HOURS PER WEEK. (Combination of hours including evenings, weekends and office hours) REF LTP This project regularly supports 100 adults with a learning disability in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere, to engage in social, leisure and educational activities which they share with other members and volunteers. This varied role involves organising social events, working with volunteers and the wider community to promote independence, decision making and choice for people with learning disabilities.

You will need to have experience of supporting others in a facilitating or empowering role in a paid or voluntary capacity. The ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with different people is essential. You will also be expected to report and record accurate written and financial information.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES – SUPPORT WORKERS. £7.81 PER HOUR + BENEFITS 35 HOURS PER WEEK (A car owner/driver is essential and mileage and travel time between appointments is paid) REF CSF Community Support Services offers support to adults and children with learning disabilities who are living in the local community. We are looking for people who can be flexible in helping us ensure we offer a comprehensive service covering daytime, weekend and evening shifts.

It is essential you have the experience of supporting people in a paid capacity and desirable that you have experience of working with adults or children who have a learning disability. You will facilitate increased independence by encouraging and supporting participation in daily living activities and opportunities.

You will also need to have the ability to work independently in people’s homes and in community settings.
