Local learning disability charity Watford Mencap has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Hertfordshire Care Providers Association Awards 2012. Membership of the Association, whose mission is “Sharing Best Practice in Care through Partnership”, is open to all providers of adult social care in Hertfordshire from the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Watford Mencap is shortlisted in the category of Best Care Business (Above 50 Employees). The criteria for this included: • Additional services provided by the organisation • Can show how quality is measured internally • Can demonstrate that staff training translates to person-centred care in a large organisation ‘We are thrilled that the hard work and dedication of our staff has been recognised,’ said Jane Pattinson, Director of Watford Mencap. ‘The adults with a learning disability who use Watford Mencap’s services are all individuals, so we work with each of them individually to enable them to live the life they choose.’ Watford Mencap will now have to go before the judging panel on 21st June and to provide more evidence of the quality of its work, such as photos and testimonials. Fingers crossed!

The award ceremony will be on 30th November 2012 at Knebworth Barns.
