Students at Bushey Meads school have been challenged to promote a fundraising event for the charity ForCrohns.
ForChrons was set up in 2002 to raise awareness and money for Crohn's Disease – a bowel disorder than can affect people of all ages.
Year Ten pupils on a BTEC performing arts course have now been asked to come up with different forms of publicity for the charity and its 10k event which takes place in July.
One student at the school in Coldharbour Lane, Jemma Malone, chose to write an article explaining what the charity does and how the school is getting involved, which has been published in her school newsletter.
Other ideas to publicise the fundraising event were T-shirts and advertisements on video sharing site You Tube.
Greg Knowles, head of the BTEC performing arts course at the school, said: "The students were delighted when they were told about the involvement with the event.
"Our main priority was getting them included in the entertainment part of the day. Plans haven't been finalised yet but there will be students juggling and our keen artists will be painting people's portraits on the day."
ForCrohns has also given the students from Bushey Meads school the opportunity to fund and create an event under the charity's name and with its support in April 2010.
The front-running idea is a talent show, similiar in style to Britain's Got Talent. This will be held in and around Watford - and both the charity and the school will want to see plenty of local acts.
Natasha Adley, a ForCrohns representative, said: "The girls at Bushey Mead have been fantastic and have been incredibly enthusiastic.
"They have all attended a late night session that we held to teach them how to budget for an event, get raffle prizes and entertainment organised and looked at designing posters or other publicity materials to help market the event.
"They have been spending lots of time on this and it's incredibly helpful to us."
The 10k event takes place in Hyde Park, London, on Sunday, July 26. For more information, visit www.forcrohns.org.
