12:50pm Wednesday 8th July 2009 in Charity Check
By Michael Pickard
A charity that supports disabled people and their carers will enjoy a year-long partnership with a Watford supermarket.
Customers and staff at Sainsbury's Dome Roundabout store were asked to select a local charity partner, who would be the subject of numerous fundraising events over the next 12 months.
Workers will also volunteer their time at DRUM (Disability Recreation Unity Movement), which is based at the Parkgate Community Centre in Southwold Road, after the group was announced as the chosen charity.
Photography company Venture will donate £400 to DRUM to kick off the fundraising on Friday.
Simon Huggard, Sainsbury's store manager, said: "We are really pleased and excited to support DRUM. The hard work starts now, but I can definitely see our store building a strong relationship with DRUM and making a difference to its work."
