7:43pm Wednesday 8th December 2010 in Lincolsnfields childrens charity By Brian Linnegar
On Sunday 27th November lincolnsfields childrens charity living history project opened its new Naffi building. The building was opened for the first of the 1940s living history projects special 1940s Christmas public Sunday openings. The 1940s living history Christmas special Sunday openings on Sunday 27th November, Sunday 5th December and Sunday 12th December takes the visitor back to a time of family Christmas where every thing was in short supply and family members where often away, parents in forces or on war work, children evacuated from danger areas. Our 1940s house and schoolroom are decorated in what would be available pre war reused decorations and cards and tree etc, paper chains made out of newspapers. The new Naffi is a recreation of the social area found on most uk bases where we sell 1940s recipe food and drinks served by volunteers in period dress. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who put a lot of effort into creating this venue as well as the Met. Police sports club who donated the tables to our children’s charity.
