The organisers of the Olympic Games have recently launched their volunteer programme for the 2012 event and applicants who have a disability are being given the opportunity to apply now - ahead of the general public.
The London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games will begin on 27th July 2012 and last for 2 weeks. Mencap is working in partnership with the Games organisers and is committed to supporting people with a learning disability to apply to become volunteers for the event.
There will be 2 types of volunteer roles on offer during the event - London 2012 Games Makers and London Ambassadors and there are position is various locations. Volunteers will get free food and travel on local public transport whilst volunteering. They will be given special clothes to wear that they can keep afterwards.
Mencap wants people with a learning disability to get the opportunity to become volunteers at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
