Visitors to Santa's Christmas grotto and generous festive shoppers in The Harlequin Centre have raised more than £4,000 for the Peace Hospice.
The shopping centre once again chose the Peace Hospice as its Christmas charity and has raised a total of £4,274 from visitors to the grotto and donations at the nativity scene.
And despite all the doom and gloom surrounding the ongoing economic crisis, good-spirited shoppers managed to raise £1,000 more than last Christmas.
Chrissy Dawson, marketing manager at The Harlequin said: “We are ecstatic to have raised so much money for such a good cause.
“Hopefully, the start of a New Year has been made a little bit easier for the patients, families, and carers at The Peace Hospice.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to shoppers for their generosity, particularly during these difficult economic times.”
The Peace Hospice’s corporate development manager, Maggie Grand, added: ‘We are delighted that once again, The Harlequin has decided to support us in this way.
“It’s a fantastic sum of money and will make a huge difference to our patients.”
