Meetings in February
8:11pm Monday 7th February 2011 in Community
By Bob Tompkins
A small group spent a weekend in Norfolk on 15/16 January, visiting Lynford Water en route where otter and firecrest were seen. On the coast between Titchwell and Cley there were thousands of geese and a flock of 30 snowbuntings at Salthouse. A total of 111 species were seen despite the strong winds.
With the Big Garden Birdwatch now behind us we are seeing and hearing increasing activity on the part of our local feathered friends. Blackbirds, Thrushes, Robins and Tits are to the fore making their territorial claims.
Our next indoor meeting will be on Wednesday 9 February at St Thomas Church Centre in Langley Road Watford at 8pm. Steve Magennis, renowned wildlife photographer, will share with us his search for even better pictures in his talk “Flash, Bang, Wallop”.
The next John Hurrell walk will be on Tuesday 15 February at Wilstone Reservoir near Tring, meeting in the car park at 10am.
