Pupils in form 9L at Rickmansworth School won £3,000 for the Watford Women's Centre as part of a citizenship competition with The Philanthropic Institute.
The 5 pupils gave a 10 minute power point presentation on the Centre with particular reference to the work that is done with women who experience domestic abuse.
Jack introduced the presentation with a clear message about how domestic abuse affects men, women and children. He then handed over to Emily who outlined the history of the Centre. Grace gave us some factual statistics on the issue of domestic abuse and Kirsty then described what domestic abuse is and how it can manifest in relationships physically, emotionally, psychologically and financially. Charlotte explored the effects of domestic abuse and introduced a video from Australia that had the audience gasping in shock. This was a well constructed and thought out presentation and the Women's Centre is very grateful to these young people for their hard work on our behalf.
